Benoit Knutsen was born in Oslo, Norway, but soon moved to Kristiansand with his family. He has always had a passionate interest in sports, earning him a spot in the team of the Kristiansand Pirates Basketball club in 1997, playing in the top league in Norway. He stayed there for 5 years, interrupted by his 1 year military service.
His interest in sports also took an academic direction when he started the Sports Science program at the University of Agder in 2000 where he stayed for two years before moving to Oslo to start the Norwegian University of Sports and Physical Education where he studied Sports Psychology. There he joined 1st division team Persbråten, earning him a 1st division regular season and playoff title. During these years he also coached several basketball teams on different levels and served as instructor on a number of clinics and camps.
He then moved to the Netherlands in the fall of 2003 to start his Bachelor program in Physiotherapy. In 2005 he was introduced to Sports Aerobic, and started working as a physiotherapist and physical coach for the Trio practicing for the World Championship in 2006.
Benoit Knutsen now lives in Groningen, the Netherlands. He is working as a teacher at the Hanze University of Applied Sciences at the physiotherapy bachelor education, as a physiotherapist in a private practice, and runs his own company offering, amongst other, courses for the Tudor Bompa Institute (www.incitus.nl). On his free time he enjoys lifting weights, Pilates, Yoga, climbing and skiing as well as literature and music. Next to this he is pursuing his Master degree in Manual therapy and has followed courses in Functional Osteopathy and Integration (FOI), and Functional Movement Screen/Selective Functional Movement Assessment (FMS/SFMA).
